Getting Started

Getting started is simple!

1. Register to access photos and profiles.

To see children’s profiles you need to complete a brief registration process so that we can grant you permission to the children's profiles. We must keep the pictures of the children protected due to requirements of the countries of origin, as well as for the privacy of the children. You will receive an email from us within 24 hours of registering. We also encourage you to call us sooner if you have any questions.

2. Fill out your application to host!

The form at the bottom of this page can be printed and filled out and returned via email to bannergman@att.net after you have signed and scanned OR you can mail to the address on the form. Once approved we will send you a link to a shared folder between you and Simply Loved that will contain all of the documents you must complete along with a checklist where you can upload the finished documents to. The hosting agreement requires a $750 deposit. You can either mail a check to the address on the application OR you can contact us to send you a secure payment link. This will hold your spot. We will also send you the form to request the child from the listing that you would like to host. You must also complete it and upload it via your shared folder. The remainder of the fee is due two weeks after your agreement is verified.

3. Begin your background check.

We encourage you to begin the process of obtaining your background check. It can take a long time to get them back right now due to the pandemic. You can visit this site to begin the process: www.criminalbackgroundrecords.com

4. Set up your home safety visit.

We encourage you to look into scheduling your home safety visit shortly after you have decided to participate in the host program. All host programs require a completed home-safety visit before a child can be placed in your care. A licensed social worker must perform this brief evaluation of your home to make sure that it is a safe environment for a child. The home-safety visit is a simple process. To locate an agency that employs social workers qualified to perform a home-safety visit in your state, visit adoption service provider search and select your state.

All the adoption service providers that you find through this search will have licensed social workers who can conduct home-safety visits. Contact one of the agencies to set up an appointment. The appointment during which the home safety assessment is made will take 1-2 hours. During this time, the social worker will ask about your daily routines and lifestyle, take a few photos of the inside and outside of your home, and spend some time getting to know you and your family. The social worker will then write a 1-2 page report accompanied by a few photographs of your home. Although this process is typically not difficult to set up or schedule, we encourage you to get this step out of the way early. It can take a couple weeks to get an appointment with the social worker depending on your and the social worker’s schedule. If you have an up-to-date home study, your home study can take the place of a home safety visit report.

5. Complete required documents.

Since you are planning on hosting a child from abroad, there will be a few documents that you need to fill out. We will help you complete the documents and explain the process to you. For your convenience, we will provide you with templates of all the documents that need to be filed. Most will simply need to be signed. Several documents need to be filled out, signed, and notarized. Notaries are available in most banks and law offices. We will have a form in your shared folder that assists you in staying organized. You will upload each document and we will validate it is complete. You will know each step of the way your progress! We are here for you!
